Mumbai/ September 21, 2011 - Garmin Corporation, a unit of Garmin Ltd., the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced FREE lifetime map update and the new design GPS navigator nüvi 2565LM, nüvi 2465LM, and optional accessories of driving recorder and wireless rear view camera.

Since its inception in 1989, Garmin has delivered 88 million GPS enabled devices – far more than any other navigation provider.  Garmin’s market breadth in the GPS industry is second to none, having developed innovative products and established a leadership position in each of the markets it serves, including automotive, aviation, marine, fitness, outdoor recreation, tracking, and wireless applications.

“Garmin is clearly the expert when it comes to reliable GPS technology, and we are the pioneer in the market,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. At the end of 2010, the independent research firm Canalys reported that Garmin is the global leader in the sale of portable navigation devices, with 38 percent market share. And Garmin is in overwhelmingly leading position with 57 present market shares in Americas. Furthermore, Garmin’s broad strengths and capacities, including vertical integration, user interface design, track record for performance and reliability, combined with a rapid product development cycle already set Garmin apart from the competition.

“We are happy to announce FREE lifetime map on our latest GPS navigators nüvi 2565LM and nüvi 2465LM in Indian market,” said Tony An, Garmin Asia Marketing Director. “Garmin nüMaps lifetime ™ will let you download the most up-to-date map information on streets, highways and points of interest as soon as new content is available for the lifetime of your Garmin GPS device. Meanwhile, we are proudly to introduce Garmin unique features, such as Junction View which help drivers avoid last minute maneuvers, Bluetooth® hands-free calling, Text-to-speech speaking street names in Indian accent, Voice Guidance available both in Hindi and English, House Number Search and ecoRoute providing the most fuel efficient route.

The new nüvi 2565LM and nüvi 2465LM comes preloaded with the NAVTEQ® map of India. “With comprehensive NAVTEQ map and location content, Garmin will continue to deliver the quality navigation experience that India drivers expect. We are excited to support Garmin's leadership by extending our collaboration into new regions. The result is great value-add for consumers in India and around the world.” said Rajat Tandon, director, sales - India, NAVTEQ.

Junction View

No more guessing which lane you need to be in to make an upcoming turn. Garmin exclusive junction view, which is supported by the NAVTEQ maps, guides you to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit, making unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate. It realistically displays junctions on your route along with arrows that indicate the proper lane for navigation.

 Bluetooth® Hands-free Calling

Garmin nüvi series integrate Bluetooth® wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker. Just pair it with your compatible Bluetooth phone and talk hands-free through nüvi while staying focused on the road. Simply dial numbers with its touchscreen keypad to make a call. To answer calls, just tap the screen and speak into its built-in microphone. Enjoy convenient one-touch dialling for contacts and points of interest.

Text-to-speech in Indian Accent

Garmin’s entire range features spoken street names for easy navigation. Different from traditional navigation devices, which make it difficult to understand the street name or area because of in-built American accent, Garmin self-develop technology and the very first implement Indian accent into devices. We believe Indian English sounds much more familiar and can be well-recognised by Indian people. Furthermore, Tex-to-speech in Hindi is coming soon to market.

Voice Guidance in Hindi & English

Garmin GPS navigators will broadcast for example, “Turn right in 500 ft.“ in Hindi or English on your own choice. Users will feel more confident being navigated in Hindi and Indian English. Garmin is trying to offer an easier solution to direct you to the final destination.

House Number Search

Easy to search locations through house number search from Garmin GPS navigator and you’ll be easy to be navigated. Garmin provides house number search in selected cities, which enables users to locate and route to destinations with highest accuracy, improving destination arrival performance, and by incorporating NAVTEQ’s millions of Points of Interest (POI), drivers can quickly find what they need, be it an ATM, petrol station, place of worship, hotel or restaurant and numerous other landmarks.

ecoRoute

Use ecoRoute with your nüvi and you’ll have details about your fuel consumption based on your driving habits right at your fingertips. From information of your impact on the environment to gas-saving tips while you’re on the go, you’ll be able to focus on fuel and energy conservation when you’re behind the wheel or planning your next trip.
